Rodeo Returns to the American Royal
Rodeo Season Returns to the American Royal With Top-Tier Competition and Family Fun

Rodeo season is kicking into high gear as the American Royal prepares to host its Youth Rodeo and PRCA ProRodeo in the coming days. These adrenaline-charged events bring some of the toughest and most talented rodeo athletes to the arena for unforgettable performances, fierce competition and all-out celebration.

ProRodeo: This year’s ProRodeo promises nonstop action with bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, bull riding and breakaway roping. The excitement doesn’t end when the final ride is over—each night, fans can kick back at the tailgate-style beer garden, free and open to the public before and after the rodeo.

And don’t miss Saturday’s extra festivities—come early at 4 p.m. for a Kentucky Derby Watch Party and keep the celebration rolling straight into rodeo night! Tickets for the ProRodeo start at just $32 and are available now at americanroyal.com/rodeo.

Youth Rodeo: Open to contestants under the age of 19, this event features both junior and senior divisions where young athletes compete for prize money and a shot at qualifying for the 2026 Hooey Jr. Patriot in Fort Worth, one of the most prestigious youth rodeos in the country. Since its launch in 2007, the American Royal Youth Rodeo has awarded more than $101,000 in prize money, helping to launch the careers of rising rodeo talent from across the Midwest.

MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES
Multiple media opportunities are available each day of the Youth and ProRodeo; however, the following would be great features to showcase the rodeo action.

Youth Rodeo Education Programs: On Wednesday, April 23, the youngest rodeo participants are invited to participate in a sponsorship clinic teaching them how to market themselves to sponsors, a Q&A panel with rodeo professionals and a collegiate rodeo fair.

Field Trips: Elementary students from around the Kansas City metro area will engage in experiential learning, connecting them with where their food comes from, during the Youth Field Trips, April 22-24. Students will also experience rodeo performances while on-site.

Participant Features: From trick riders to rodeo entertainers, several of our participants and their families have stories worth sharing. Many of them have been performing at the American Royal for generations.
