American Royal Association Names Sara Befort As Chief Operating Officer
KANSAS CITY, MO – The American Royal Association is pleased to announce Sara Befort as the organization’s new chief operating officer, effective June 29, 2024.
Befort joined the American Royal team in June of 2013, where she served as the communications and rodeo coordinator for three years before becoming the rodeo event manager. For the past year and a half, Befort has been serving as the director of events for the Association.
“Sara’s strategic thinking skills and forward-thinking approach made her the perfect candidate for this position,” said Jackie McClaskey, American Royal President and CEO. “I look forward to seeing Sara lead and inspire the events and operations team to produce high-quality agricultural events and experiences.”
Befort is a graduate of Kansas State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in agribusiness and minored in business. She also received her Associates degree in agribusiness from Colby Community College, where she was a member of the livestock judging team. She grew up on her family’s commercial Angus ranch in northeastern Nevada where her family still operates today.
“My passion for the agriculture industry came from my family and upbringing,” said Sara Befort. “My education and collegiate judging experience introduced me to the American Royal and the importance of agricultural education. The relationships I have built through the rodeo industry have strengthened my love for preserving the western way of life. I am excited to combine all my experiences for this new role and look forward to the future of the American Royal.”
In addition to Befort’s new role as chief operating officer, Sara will continue to serve as the organization’s director of events and pro rodeo manager.
