FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

American Royal and HYER Boots Join Forces To Develop a One-of-a-Kind Cowboy Boot
The exclusive boot design celebrates the American Royal’s 125th anniversary

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (November 12, 2024) – The American Royal and HYER Boots have developed a limited-edition cowboy boot to celebrate the American Royal’s 125th anniversary. The special boot collaboration honors a shared history in the Kansas City Western and livestock scene, dating back to the 1800s.

The craftsmen at HYER developed exclusive men’s and women’s designs representing the American Royal’s significant milestone and the spirit of Kansas City. Purchase of the stylish yet durable cutter-toe boots will benefit the American Royal’s mission of championing food and agriculture.

“Our 125th anniversary commemorative boot partnership with HYER is special,” said Ken Wagner, chairman of the American Royal board of directors. “While the unique craftmanship perfectly reflects our brand, the historical representation of our shared Kansas City pride is even more significant for both entities. It is our honor to team up with a company that upholds a rich history, just like ours.”

HYER, founded in Kansas in 1875, is credited with inventing the original American cowboy boot and, at one time, was the largest handmade boot manufacturer in America. A few years later in 1899, the American Royal was founded in the Kansas City Stockyards as the first exhibition and sale of purebred cattle. Over the years, the American Royal has expanded to host livestock and equine shows, rodeos, barbecue competitions and high-impact educational programs.

“I grew up attending American Royal events—from rodeos to livestock shows to the legendary barbecue,” said Zach Lawless, CEO and founder of HYER Boots. “The American Royal has always played a significant role in our community, and it’s an incredible honor to create the 125th anniversary boot. This moment brings things full circle, not just for me but for HYER Boots. Both HYER and the American Royal have deep roots in the Western heritage of Kansas City, and it’s incredibly gratifying to reunite the two to celebrate the longevity and resilience of the Royal.”

Preorders for the exclusive boots are due Dec. 9. A link to purchase can be found at americanroyal.com/about/125th-anniversary.
