World Series of Barbecue® Brings the Heat to KC
Barbecue competition and family fun will fill Kansas Speedway October 31 to November 3

The American Royal’s World Series of Barbecue® will bring the heat to Kansas City next week! The World Series of Barbecue is the world’s largest barbecue competition and the American Royal’s largest fundraiser to support its mission to be the nation’s leader for food and agriculture education, events and engagement.

Friday night is Kansas City’s big pit party on pit road with live music, games, food and drinks. On Saturday, everyone is invited to take part in family-friendly activities and competitions throughout the day. The highlights include:
• Kids Que Competition: Up to 80 junior pitmasters ranging in age from 6-15 will show off their barbecue skills throughout the day.
• Family Fun Activities: In addition to backyard games, shopping and festival-type activities, families can cheer on their favorite animal in the new KC Stampede race.
• Bobbing in Baked Beans and Barbecue Sauce Wrestling: Everyone is invited to watch brave participants seek out apples in tubs of baked beans and wrestle in pools of barbecue sauce.
• Battle of the Bands: Throughout the day, some of Kansas City’s best musical talent will battle it out to win $3,000.
• Barbecue Hall of Fame Induction: Four inductees will be formally inducted into the Barbecue Hall of Fame, barbecue’s top honor. Three legacy inductees will also be recognized this year.
