KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Mar. 27, 2025) – Marking its 125th year of championing food and agriculture, the American Royal celebrated 2024 with record-breaking achievements, continued growth and a commitment to education, community engagement and industry leadership. The newly released 2024 annual report showcases these milestones, highlighting the organization’s enduring impact and dedication to shaping the future of agriculture.
Drawing attendees from 48 states and 15 countries, the American Royal continues to solidify its role as a global platform for agriculture and food advocacy. In 2024, 415,242 individuals attended in person, while an additional 628,554 participated virtually, totaling an impressive 1,043,796 attendees across 280 event days.
Beyond its events, the American Royal’s economic influence remains significant. This year, the organization contributed over $86 million in estimated economic impact, strengthening local businesses and industries. The dedication of 410 unique event volunteers, who contributed a total of 6,340 hours, further underscores the community’s commitment to the Royal’s mission. A cornerstone of the Royal’s commitment is also education. In 2024, nearly $690,150 in scholarships were awarded to students demonstrating leadership and academic excellence in agriculture.
This year was exceptionally amazing for the event that started it all – the American Royal Livestock Show. The show saw a record number of junior market animals with entries from across the nation. The Junior Premium Livestock Auction set a new record, grossing an incredible $881,700, a testament to the dedication of young exhibitors and their supporters.
The American Royal also prioritizes youth education, providing hands-on learning experiences that connect students to agriculture. In 2024, the organization welcomed 3,213 students to its spring and fall field trips, designed to immerse elementary students in the science of agriculture and connect them to food, animals and plants. The introduction of new youth-focused initiatives, such as the Spring Youth Livestock Show and AgSTEM Camp, further reinforce the Royal’s mission to educate and inspire future agricultural leaders.
As the American Royal looks back on 2024, it does so with deep gratitude for the unwavering support of its community, partners and stakeholders. Every event, scholarship and initiative has helped shape a future where food and agriculture thrive, inspiring generations to carry on this vital legacy.
