Market Lambs Win Big

Exhibitors from across the country came to the American Royal for this year’s Market Lamb Show. The competition was thick and layers of people crowed around the ring trying to get a view of the prize-winning wethers.

Judge Brad Ellerbrock from Atkinson, Illinois, chose Brooke Kuesel from Victor, Iowa, as the Grand Champion Market Lamb from the crossbred division. When her 141-pound wether from the crossed division was selected, the arena erupted in applause. Kuesel shook the judges hand with tears in her eyes and a huge smile on her face.

Coming closely behind, Ross Hargrove from Stephenville, Texas was deemed Reserve Champion Market Lamb. Not only did Hargrove, in his yellow shirt stand out in the ring, but his Hampshire lamb, weighing 169-pounds, was also quite the eye catcher. Both exhibitors will be traveling home with a large banner and customized memorabilia.

Other winners in the market lamb class include:

Champion Hampshire: Ross Hargrove, Stephenville, Texas
Reserve Hampshire: Brooke Kuesel, Victor, Iowa

Champion Suffolk: Hallie Hindman, Albia, Iowa

Champion All Other Breeds: Karlyn Snider, Rhodes, Iowa
