Salers champions named at American Royal: Official Release

November 3, 2012

KANSAS CITY—Champions were named in the American Royal Open Salers Show Oct. 27. Judge Ryan Breiner, Manhattan, Kan., evaluated the 58 head of cattle, exhibited by 35 breeders from 9 states.

Females

White Oak Salers, Fremont, Iowa, bred and exhibited the Grand Champion and Senior Division Champion Female, LMB Yasmine 110Y. She is sired by DJF Welsh 650W and was born on Feb. 8, 2011. Reserve Champion and Reserve Senior Division Champion Salers Female went to GGT P BK Selena 18Y. She was bred by Kylie Werth, Quinter, Kan., and exhibited by GG&T Cattle Co., Quinter, Kan. The Jan. 2, 2011, female is sired by GGT P BLK Predator 223N.

ZBR Xtacy River 056Z, raised by Z7 Bar Ranch LLC of Tulsa, Okla., and exhibited by JO C.G. Colmore of Rising Fawn, Ga., took home Spring Heifer Calf Champion. She was born on March 1, 2012. Following at reserve was RKB Topeka Storm 01Z, raised and exhibited by /T Cattle Co., Overland Park, Kan. She was born on April 17, 2012 and is sired by OPP Firestorm OF 659S.

GG&T Cattle Co. raised and exhibited the Junior Heifer Calf Champion, GGT P BK Bicardi 248Z. She is sired by GGT P BLK Heavy Hitter and was born on Jan. 21, 2012. Reserve Junior Heifer Calf Champion went to LOIS Zamora, born on Feb. 2, 2012, and  sired by DJF Springfield 450S. She was bred by Phillips Farm, New Boston, Mo., and exhibited by Gabriel Rodriguez, Brookfield, Mo.

Senior Heifer Calf Champion was SCC Yes M’am 312Y, born on Nov. 5, 2011. Sired by MAC Wyndham 54W, she was raised and exhibited by Street Cattle Co., Cave City, Ark. JCGC Yulee 137Y was selected as the Reserve Senior Heifer Calf Champion. She is a daughter of DJF Whiskey River 9006W and was born Oct. 15, 2011. The heifer was bred by JO C.G. Colmore, Rising Fawn, Ga., and exhibited by Ashley Salyers, Billings, Mont.

Cow-Calf Pairs

Phillips Farm, New Boston, Mo., exhibited the Grand Champion Cow-Calf Pair. JCG Winnie 001W was born Jan. 8, 2009, and is a daughter of JSR Jamaca 431. She was raised by Sunken Canyon Ranch, Buhl, Idaho. The calf at side, JVD Zephyr 002Z, is owned by Victoria Dickerson, Blue Ridge, Texas, and was born April 5, 2012 and is sired by MAC Topeka 159T. The Reserve Champion Cow-Calf Pair was awarded to STP DJF Olivia. She was raised by T Bone Cattle Co., Allerton, Iowa, and was exhibited by Ray and Donna Albert, Louisville, Neb. She is a RJA Black Sambo 603S daughter and was born on April 5, 2010. The calf at side, RJA Miss Zoey 204Y, was born on Feb. 15, 2012 and is sired by TSB Houston 130X.

Bulls

GG&T Cattle Co., raised and exhibited the Grand Champion and Junior Bull Calf Champion, GGT P BK Rock On 259Z. He was born on Jan. 22, 2012 and is sired by GGT P BLK Heavy Hitter. Reserve Champion and Junior Champion Bull went to AJL Yadier 113Y. He was born on Feb. 16, 2012, and is sired by SRS Wyatt Earp 956W. He was raised and exhibited by Allison Liebhart of New Boston, Mo.

Spring Bull Calf Champion was awarded to JVD Zephyr 002Z, raised and exhibited by Victoria Dickerson, Blue Ridge, Texas. He was born on April 5, 2012, and is sired by MAC Topeka 159T. Silver Spur Salers, Maryville, Mo., raised and exhibited the Reserve Spring Bull Calf Champion, DJF Zavier 207Z. He was born on March 1, 2012, and is sired by Legend’s Mojo 321N.

Reserve Champion Junior Bull Calf Champion was raised and exhibited by Silver Spur Salers. DJF Zodiak 941Z was born on Feb. 11, 2012, and is a son of Legend’s Mojo 321N.

Rocky Top Farms, Camp, Ark., raised and exhibited the Senior Bull Calf Champion, LARU BLK Freightliner 211. He was born on Oct. 12, 2011, and is sired by JCGC Wide Load 1948W.

Reserve Junior Champion Bull was raised and exhibited by Z7 Bar Ranch LLC. ZBR Mojo In Site 155Y was born on April 8, 2011, and is sired by TSB Mo Jo 35U.

Group Classes

GG&T Cattle Co. took home the banner for Best Five Head. They also were awarded the Junior Get-of-Sire and Get-of-Sire with offspring sired by Heavy Hitter.
