American Royal Market Goat Show: Official Results

KANSAS CITY—Junior market goat exhibitors from across the country competed for top honors in the market goat show on Friday, Oct. 26.

Chip Kemp of Auxvasse, Mo., evaluated the 96 market goat entries in the American Royal Market Goat Show.

Cooper Bounds of Taneytown, Md., exhibited the Grand Champion Market Goat. The 80-pound goat was first named Champion in Division I. Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat honors went to Kaylie Stone of Gurdon, Ark. Stone’s 87-pound goat was named Champion Division II earlier in the day.

Reserve Champion Division I honors went to the 83-pound whether shown by Jessica Burson of Roswell, N.M. The Reserve Champion in Division II was exhibited by Tyler Mogford of Canyon, Texas, which weighed in at 92 pounds.

Grant Simpson of Columbus, Kan., exhibited the Champion Division III Goat that weighed in at 111 pounds. Reserve Champion in the same division went to the 100-pound whether shown by Raylee Faris of Westmoreland, Kan.

The American Royal Association is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that has been a Kansas City tradition since 1899. Each year more than 270,000 people attend events at the American Royal Complex. In 2011, the Royal was able to give $1.4 million in scholarship and educational awards. In addition to its educational mission, the American Royal generates some $60 million of economic impact, $4.4 million in local tax revenues, and supports 450 jobs.
