American Royal Junior Market Hog Show: Official Results

KANSAS CITY—Junior swine enthusiasts gathered in Kansas City, Mo., to compete for top honors at the American Royal. This year’s American Royal Market Hog Show drew in youth exhibitors from 14 states.

Wayne Huinker of Decorah, Iowa, evaluated 323 market hogs on Oct. 27 and 28.

Blake Goss of Canute, Okla., drove the Overall Grand Champion Market Hog with his entry that was first named Champion Crossbred. The hog weighed 284 pounds. The Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog, which was also Reserve Champion Crossbred was shown by CJ Conner of Tuttle, Okla. His hog weighed 285 pounds.

The Champion Berkshire was exhibited by Wyatt Martin of Bloomington, Ind., and weighed 278 pounds. Blakely Byrd of Tuttle, Okla., drove the Reserve Champion Berkshire that weighed 283 pounds.

Elizabeth Hodges of Lebo, Kan., drove the Champion Duroc weighing 276 pounds. The Reserve Champion Duroc was exhibited by Tyler Waitman of Purcell, Okla., and weighed 287 pounds.

Ashtin Guyer of Robinson, Ill., showed the Champion Hampshire, weighing 274 pounds. The Reserve Champion Hampshire was exhibited by Andrew Hodges of Lebo, Kan., and weighed 269 pounds.

Austin Newberry of Attica, Kan., drove the Champion Yorkshire that weighed 288 pounds. The Reserve Champion Yorkshire was exhibited by Zane Ward of Tribune, Kan., and weighed 285 pounds.

The Champion AOB was exhibited by Ashley Wallander of Bertrand, Neb., and weighed 288 pounds. The Reserve Champion AOB was shown by Mason Gray of Ada, Okla., and weighed 240 pounds.

Marissa Jordan of Covington, Okla., exhibited the Champion Lightweight Crossbred that weighed 255 pounds. The Reserve Lightweight Champion Crossbred was shown by Seth Warren of Glenwood, Iowa. His hog weighed 250 pounds.

Colt Wolf of Whitesboro, Texas, drove the Champion Middleweight Crossbred, weighing 271 pounds. Shianna Scifres of Roff, Okla., showed the Reserve Middleweight Champion Crossbred that weighed 267 pounds.

The American Royal Association is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation that has been a Kansas City tradition since 1899. Each year more than 270,000 people attend events at the American Royal Complex. In 2011, the Royal was able to give $1.4 million in scholarship and educational awards.
